The Women's Center's Rape Crisis Services: So. Counties Advocate (Harrisburg, IL office)

Responsible for providing crisis intervention, medical and legal advocacy, and institutional advocacy at our satellite office in Harrisburg, IL and responds to Saline and Gallatin counties and nearby counties when on-call. Provides volunteer and professional training, as well as community outreach.  Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience in social services preferred.  Knowledge and previous training regarding sexual assault and gender violence issues preferred. Must have reliable transportation and be willing to complete required training. Position is full-time with benefits and includes regular on call shifts.

The Women's Center, Inc.:  Development Specialist (Carbondale office)

The Women’s Center, Inc. is a nonprofit agency located in Carbondale. We provide services to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence in the eight surrounding counties and have been doing this essential work for almost 45 years. We are funded by state, federal, and local government grants, however we lean heavily on our local fundraising events and financial support from the communities we serve.

Responsibilities:

The Development Specialist handles all aspects of fund development to contribute to the overall efficiency of The Women’s Center, Inc. This position is responsible for maintaining our current network of community support, while cultivating relationships with new donors. Other responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

·       Major gifts

·       Planned giving

·       Endowment development

·       Annual appeals

·       Prioritization of development goals and tactics to meet them

·       Coordinating and preparation of agency newsletters and direct appeals

·       Updates website with information related to development and events

·       Plans and coordinates fundraising events, in cooperation with the Development Committee, Events Committee, and the Board of Directors

Requirements:

·       Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent prior experience; understanding of planned giving a plus

·       Experience or knowledge of planned giving, special events and direct mail preferred

·       Knowledge of various computer programs (Windows, Microsoft Office, Internet, and database systems)

·       High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork and attention to detail; high degree of initiative

·       Strong verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively

·       Demonstrated ability to think strategically and an understanding of strategic development

·       Ability to interact with others and remain focused while dealing with multiple objectives and timelines

·       Familiarity with the Women’s Center and/or domestic violence and sexual assault issues a plus
